About Dr. Tory Tomasetti
Dr. Tomassetti is a licensed psychologist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety, trauma, insomnia, and marital/couple distress. As a private practice psychologist, she is focused on providing highly individualized, evidence-based care to individuals, couples, and families in New York and Louisiana*.
Prior to opening her own practice in lower Manhattan, Dr. Tomassetti worked alongside top providers in the field, first in New Orleans, and then in New York City. In New Orleans, she was a staff psychologist and served as the Associate Clinical Director of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of New Orleans. It was at CBT NOLA that Dr. Tomassetti refined her expertise in the assessment and behavioral treatment of individuals, couples, and families in a private practice setting. Later, she returned to the northeast, where she continued working with leaders in the field of CBT before launching her own private practice.
Dr. Tomassetti offers short-term therapies for conditions such as generalized anxiety, specific phobias, and insomnia, alongside more intensive therapies for conditions such as trauma-related disorders, OCD, and couples’ distress. Her approach to therapy is informed by her research experience, adherence to evidence-based treatments, and a focus on clients’ strengths and resiliency.
*Dr. Tomassetti is licensed in both New York and Louisiana and is available to serve clients in both states via secure, HIPAA-compliant teletherapy.
Tory Tomassetti graduated summa cum laude from Wilkes University prior to earning her Ph.D. in counseling psychology. She completed an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the New Orleans VA, where she specialized in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and trauma-related disorders. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tomassetti was the lead researcher in a trial which examined the effects of a novel intervention for persons with chronic sleep disturbance. Her research has been published in an APA journal and presented at regional, national, and international conferences.

What is it like to work with me?
Over the past decade, I’ve asked many clients to provide feedback on their therapy experience with me. Consistently, clients have appreciated my straightforward style that balances compassion with irreverence. I view therapy as a collaborative process: you are the expert in your experience, and I’m the expert in the process of helping you achieve your goals.
